Janet Bishop
Born and raised in Morehead I graduated from Breckinridge Training School in 1965 and Morehead State University in 1969. My parents are Curley and Virginia "Jenny" Barker. Dad died in August 1991 but Mom is like the energizer bunny turning 90 on June 14, 2004 and still going strong. Dad was the owner/operator of The Big Store Furniture, est. 1932, and active in the community. He served on the Morehead Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years being the Assistant Fire Chief for many of those years. My mother taught and is retired from the Rowan County School System. I have two brothers, Jim and Jeff Barker.
After graduating, I married Tom Bishop, from Carlisle, KY, and our jobs took us to Falls Church, VA, Little Rock, ARK, Shreveport, LA, and Houston, TX. Because of their generous nature and considerable help, almost 20 years after we left, we were able to buy Pasquale's from Jim and Mary Murphy and return to Morehead to live and raise our two children, Paul and Kelly. We have owned and operated Pasquale's for over 14 years now. We returned by choice. Morehead was and is home. I love the city, the area, the wonderful people who live here.
Since returning to Morehead, in addition to running Pasquale's, I have been heavily involved in tourism and the redevelopment of downtown Morehead. I am committed to economic development, improved opportunities for recreation, an improved job market, and the direction of the future Morehead.
